RAIN Technique
One of the things that you deal with when you have fibromyalgia is anxiety and sometimes, well small panic moments. As one who has navigated this for a number of years I have done meditation, I pray, listen to calming music and of course having my baby Maltese all help me. First thing to do is to recognize what is happening, recognize that you are having a moment of anxiety etc.., Often we try to ignore what is going on, rather than move through it. Before you can deal with it or move though it you have to recognize what is going on. Allow yourself to breathe and acknowledge that you are experiencing a moment, a tough one. Investigate why you feel this way, not by berating or beating yourself up. Imagine you were a counselor and were guiding yourself with kindness, love as you figure out why you feel as you do. The final step is to acknowledge, understand that you are not your emotions in that moment. None of us is what we feel in any one moment only, but the sum of our experiences and what we have learned from those experiences. Hopefully we have learned valuable lessons and have learned a lot about ourselves as well. The goal is to move through moments, experiences, rather than let that moment define you.
